The league consists of 12 teams of 12 players each. The teams are named based on the names of various states and cities of India which include Bengal, Bengaluru, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jaipur, Patna, Pune, Tamil, Telugu, Mumbai, and Uttar Pradesh.
Seasons
There have been six seasons in the league. The winners of the league in season 1 were Jaipur Pink Panthers, U Mumba in season 2, Patna Pirates in season 3, 4 and 5, and Bengaluru Bulls in season 6.
Season 7
The Vivo Pro Kabaddi season 7 commenced on 20th July 2019. It consists of 132 matches where the top 6 teams will be entering the playoffs beginning on 14th October. It will be held in Ahmedabad. The six teams for the playoffs are:
