Why Madhuri Dixit was Diva in '90s

Through the different decades, Bollywood Movies have been graced by beautiful stars that were not only pretty but also capable of putting on strong performances. Madhuri Dixit was one who practically ruled the roost in the nineties. She had able contenders in Sridevi and Kajol, who were eminently successful stars in their own right during the decade. Born on 15th May 1967, Madhuri Dixit made her debut in 1984 with Rajshri Productions film Abodh, which bombed at the box office. After some insipid films in between, she got noticed with her acting skills as much with the Ek Do Teen number in Tezaab as Mohini in the year 1988. She did not look back since then, with films like Ram Lakhan, Parinda and Tridev in 1989. She came into her own in the nineties with iconic films, till in 1999 when she married Dr. Shrikant Nene and migrated to LA in the USA. 2000 and beyond:
There were a host of other films released in 200 and beyond, were not only commercial successes but also earned her critical acclaim.  Films like Pukar and Devdas, to name a few. MF Hussain, the master painter, chose to showcase her beauty in his only directorial venture Gaja Gamini. She made a comeback to Bollywood in 2007 with Aja Nachle.
