Jacob Collier, prodigiously talented multi-instrumentalist, singer, arranger, composer and producer from London is all set to play his first show at NCPA in Mumbai. Collier’s musical prowess at the tender age of twenty-four caught the attention of music legends such as Quincy Jones and cemented his reputation as one of the most prodigious and innovative creative forces of his generation. The British musical powerhouse is the youngest ever PRS for Music Gold Award recipient at The Jazz FM Awards. Collier was awarded two Grammys for his arrangements of ‘Flintstones’ and ‘You And I’, both from his debut album, In My Room. He performed the first volume of his new album Djesse at both Berklee College of Music and MIT at the beginning of his world tour in support of the album. He has caught the eye of many prolific musicians with his homemade viral YouTube videos, landing collaborations with a host of famous names, from Herbie Hancock to Hans Zimmer to Snarky Puppy and even performances with Pharrell Williams, an inspiring TED Talk., and much more. While on stage, Collier darts between instruments, effortlessly swapping between drums, bass, guitars, keys and takes the audience on a journey, as he combines genres such as soul, jazz, funk, RnB and more.
His debut show in India is a part of his ongoing world tour in support of his album Djesse, an ambitious quadruple album with two volumes currently released. He will perform with his band which is comprised of multi-instrumentalist & vocalist MARO, Robin Mullarkey on bass and Christian Euman on drums.
