The Angry Birds 2 – 2019 – The Angry Birds 2 is an upcoming computer-animated comedy movie set to release in August 2019. It is a sequel to the hit 2016 movie The Angry Birds, which is based on the eponymous video game from Rovio Entertainment. The film is directed by cartoonist and voice actor Thurop Van Orman. Orman was a story board artist for the hit cartoon show The Powerpuff Girls. This movie marks Orman’s directorial debut. It will be the last movie release of the decade for Sony Animation pictures and is their 19th theatrical movie. It will also be the last movie to be filmed in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Actors Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny Mcbride, Peter Dinklage among others who lent their voice in the first movie will reprise their roles in the sequel. The release of the movie will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Angry Birds videogame.
It was originally set to release in September but the producers decided to advance the release date to August. The makers have also announced the release of a tie-in video game The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure, which will be available on the Playstation VR platform of Playstation 4 exclusively on 6th August 2019. Comedian Leslie Jones was roped in for the project to play a new villain, Zeta, who threatens to usher in a new ice-age with cryokinetic technology. The movie will also feature a new cast of actors including Awkwafina, Nicki Minaj, Sterling K Brown and others. The teaser trailer was released on 21st February 2019 with Vanilla Ice’s famous song Ice Ice Baby to introduce the Arctic theme of the sequel. Like the first film, the sequel will be released in the same year as the sequel to The Secret Life of Pets 2, another hit animated movie.
